Return to Norrath

March 10th, 2009.  Day 1.

Years ago, before World of Warcraft, before Star Wars Galaxies, and a little at the same time of Ultima Online and Kingdom of Drakkar, I played a game that many used to call EverCrack.  Yes, I speak of EverQuest.  I think I started to play it in 1999, shortly after it first came out.  I played it up until about the end of 2002.  I don’t think my character ever got huge, I think it made it to level 35.

Back in late 2004 I started to play World of Warcraft.  I found it super easy to play, not too much of a challenge, but after about 4 years I grew very bored with it.  I think around August of 2008 I stopped playing all together.  I was level 70, and did not have the time it required to hunt for epics or join lame-ass raids where you had a 1 in 40 chance in winning a roll (and even then the item you rarely needed).  Seriously, I had done everything I wanted to do in the game.  My skills were maxed, my level was maxed, and I was bored.  Yes, I knew that Wrath of the Lich King was due out in November, but I was PAINFULLY bored.  So I stopped playing.  I think my account still has about 50,000 gold, so if I ever do decide to go back it won’t be too bad to kickstart again.

Okay, so that leads me to now.  For the past 7 months I’ve been bored out of my skull where it comes to playing games goes.  I got a Wii, immediatly got Legend of Zelda from the virtual console thingy, played it and beat it within two weeks (classic game tho), got Left 4 Dead (still play the hell out of that but it does nothing to quell my thirst for an RPG), play Mobsters on MySpace (Overdrive too), but still something is missing.

I got an email a couple of days ago from Sony inviting me to Return to Norrath, that my characters were still there.  Hmm.  I vividly recall exactly why I stopped playing it, I died and could not get back to my corpse in time, lost everything.  Got super pissed off.  Deleted the game, cancelled my account.

It’s been 7 years since I’ve been there.  I broke out my Ruins of Kunark strategy guide, and forgot a bit about why I was so pissed off.  I was a different gamer back then, perhaps I’ve changed.  Perhaps my view on events will inspire instead of condem.  What the hell?  I’ll try it out.

EverQuest.  Does anyone still play it?  Is it a dead game?  They came out with an “expansion” of sorts back in October of 2008, it contained all the previously released expansions.  I’m downloading everything now as I type this.  More than likely I’ll head off to bed and wake up to find it’s still downloading.  14 expansions in all, plug the game itself.  DSL connection, so it’s a fast download, it’s just really freaking huge!  I wonder how long it will take to update everything once it’s installed…

Until then, get ready for an adventure!

Adventure Journal

In my tavels I sometimes find that several months later I am forgetting some of the details.  I love going on adventures, and as such I need to keep better track of them.  In the true spirit of blogging, I have decided to create this Adventure Journal.  I am writing it for myself, but feel free to read along.

Flisk's Adventure Journal

My journal is old and worn, leather bound.  It has a large “F” embossed onto it’s cover.  I suggest to anyone going on an adventure to keep an Adventure Journal.  You never know when you may need to look back and remember something you have forgotten..

Look what we just got in!

Hot out of some boxes, I found some hidden gems from yesteryore.  Take a look at this!

That’s not even 1/4 of the Dungeons and Dragons books that I got in.  And yeah, hidden kindav at the top and right of the photo is a Games Workshop box of skeletons.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to catalog all of these books and post them into the Online Shoppe so keep your eyes open and your dice warmed up!

I have the ZBlog (ZombieBlog), and let me tell you, this is where the true experience of the website comes to… eh.. erm… life.

My focus with’s blog portion is to promote people related to the Horror Genre.

Authors of this genre are generally not well known, musicians are even lesser well known, and artists even lesser known than that.  My goal is to have a platform to use to give reviews for these different categories, as well as to talk about horror in general.  Yes, it’s main theme is Zombies, but as it grows.. keep an eye out for other things that “go bump in the night”.

I just wanted to let everyone know why I have been so lax with as of late.  I apologize for that.

Hurricane Jeanne 9-24-2004

7:07 PM Eastern.

Yeah.  Another one.  This one did a really wierd curly Q in the middle
of the ocean.  It took a westward path then once it got to Jamaca it
turned due north and stayed about 600 miles east of Florida for about 5
days.  While there it was downgraded from a Category 1 Hurricane down to
a Tropical Storm, then down to a Tropical Depression.  During the past 2
days it has become a Strong Category 2 Hurricane and is now moving
directly towards us.  It is scheduled to make landfall about a mile away
from where we live at about 2 AM Sunday morning.

The problem that this county is facing (Brevard County) and all
surrounding counties in Central Florida, is that most of the ground is
already saturated with water from the other hurricanes and in fact most
areas are still flooded.  Water has no-where to go other than up.  I
figure soon, Florida will be a series of islands…

We have plenty of water and plenty of ice (in fact most of it is left
over from the last hurricane when I went nuts and bought all that stuff –
most of it in cans and stuff that does not need to be cooked).

Right now there is a mandatory evacuation that is set to go into effect
for our area at Midnight tonight for those in manufactured homes and low
laying area and the barrier islands.  We do not live in any of those
area, so we will be under a recommended evacuation.  The problem is,
it’s so expensive to leave.  It does not seem like it would be, but it
is.  I think we are going to stay here for this one, so it should be
“exciting” to say the least.

More later…

Saturday, September 25th, 2004.

11:28 AM Eastern.

It’s windy outside.  There was a squirrel sitting at the top of a palm
tree just outside the door; he was chittering away.  Animals know when
impending doom approaches.  Not really much new to add, it’s cloudy
outside with spots of sun that peek through every now and again.

Hurricane Jeanne is about 155 miles east of the Florida coast right now.

more later…

5:41 PM Eastern.

LOTS of wind now.  Bursts up to 45 miles an hour.  LOTS of rain too.
Obviously we still have power.  This thing is supposed to hit us at
about midnight.  We saw another squirrel running across the parking lot,
he had a huge pinecone in his mouth.  He stopped under a tree and shook
himself like a dog would when it’s wet.  Poor thing.  Not much new
other than that.

more later…

6:16 PM Eastern.

Just saw where they predict that the eye will pass DIRECTLY over Palm Bay.  That’s where I live…

more later…

7:00 PM Eastern.

Even more wind.  It’s picking up more and more as each hour goes by.  In
fact, from this point forward, I think I’ll try to do hour to hour
updates.  Assuming I have power to do so.  They may be brief, or they
may be lengthy depending on what happens.

We just had a Tornado touch down in Titusville, it’s moving west so no threat to us.

You can view some pictures as I take them here:

8:09 PM Eastern.

Seeing some pictures coming in on the news right now.  The beaches are
being eroded away.  Lots of fear that A1A, one of the main roads that
runs along the coast will be wiped out from this, well parts of it.

Eye is about 4 hours away from making landfall.

9:00 PM Eastern.

Oh boy.  We are in for a looong night.  Rain is coming down, but is just
sprinkling.  We have had a couple of flashes of power loss, but
obviously I’m still with power and online.  Not sure for how much
longer…  But until I’m powerless, I’ll update here (or fall asleep,
like yeah I’ll be doing THAT!).

Wind is pretty much the same as it was a couple of hours ago.

10:00 PM Eastern.

Still with me?  I still have power, but apporximatly 75,000 in Brevard
County (the county I live in) are without power.  Our bathtub is filled
up with water, not to drink mind you, but to use to fill up the toilet
so we can flush, in-case the water goes out like it did last time.

Still not much rain, but lots and lots of wind.

We are getting wind gusts up to 54 miles an hour; and it looks like
Hurricane Jeanne is going to make landfall right around Stuart, just
south of Ft. Pierce.  Looks like it will make landfall within the couple
of hours.

11:00 PM Eastern.

I’m getting pretty tired.  The wind is really howling outside right now.
Lots of rain now too.  It’s really odd to think that all this water
coming down came from the middle of the ocean like 600 miles east of us.
They are esitmating that right at about 2 million people will be
without power due to this hurricane.

I stepped outside for just a moment, yeah the wind is getting stringer.
It’s gusting up to about 54 miles an hour and is said to double that
within 30 minutes.  We’ll see if I still have power for my midnight
check in.

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

12:01 AM Eastern.

It is due to make landfall as a Category 3.

More wind, still at 54 miles an hour.  Very tired.  I may or may not
update more for a while.  Getting kindav sleepy, but I know it’s going
to be hard to sleep with all this going on.  The feeder bands are going
right over us and the eye should passing us in roughly 2 hours.

Monday, September 27th, 2004

2:22 AM Eastern.

We lost power about 22 hours ago (shortly after my last post actually).
There was little we could do but to “hunker down” as everyone is
calling it.

And the winds came.

Along with the rain.

We take so much advantage of having electricity, only realizing that as
we sat there in the dark without it.  Wind would occasionally shake the
apartment building and we could often times hear things either hitting
the roof or parts of the roof itself being ripped off.  Then we heard
the crinkle of metal.

We grabbed a fast peak outside and saw some of the covered parking areas
were in the process of being whipped around and “re-located”.  At about
this time going to the bathroom was a priority, and it’s a good thing
we filled up the bathtub with water.  No, you don’t go in the bathtub,
you still go into the toilet, but you have to use the water from the tub
to fill the bowl back up after you flush.

We layed back down to sleep.

The winds still howling outside, there was little more we could do but
try to get some sleep and wait for daybreak to go out and see the
damage.  That within itself was quite difficult, getting to sleep.  The
sounds of the metal outside scaping against itself, the wind rapping
against the roof, and not having any power at all; all the combinations
of that was just damn spooky.

Then daylight came.

We still had no power and it was getting hot inside.

We threw on some crappy shoes and went outside.  The Parking covers were
all over the place.  Water was standing in pools all over the parking
lot too.  I passed a few cars that had taken some damage, one took a
large wooden beam to it’s front windshield and smashed it; another
wooden beam bent the back support bar of a neighbor’s jeep.

I made my way to my car.  2 spaces down the back window of a Toyota was
totally smashed out.  I think the Parking cover fell on it and smashed
it, the owner was out there removing the glass.  My car was not damaged.

I went to inspect my wife’s car.

It was a little more difficult to get to, lots of debris was in the way,
as well as water.  Once there I looked over it and it looked okay.
Save for the rear bumper, it had a noticable scratch on it, but at least
it was there and for the most part undamaged.

The rest of the day we simply tried to take it all in.  We opened the
windows and let the winds blow through.  We had a battery operated radio
on and listened to it, the place was in total devistation.  A 24 hour
curfew was also put in place.

We were stuck.

Of course there was not anywhere we could go, so we just sat here and
watched the clouds roll by and the felt the wind whip thru.

I took a nap at about noon.

Woke up at about 3; nothing had changed.

At 5 they lifted the curfew so we decided to drive over to a little
chinese joint just down the road, they were open immediatly after the
last hurricane.  They had no power and were not open either.  But we saw
more destruction.  I snapped a few pictures and we decided to return
home.  We passed by 1 place that was open, Dominoes, and there must have
been a line of about 60 people waiting to get pizza.  We decided to
return home and dine on apples, peanutbutter, and tuna.

At about 9 PM Eastern, after the sun had gone down (not that we ever saw
it but it still illuminated the clouds from above) we decided to try to
get some sleep.  The windows open, a nice breeze still blowing, we
layed down.

Suddenly I saw bright light.

I thought I had slept thru the night and was looking at the sun coming
in, then it dawned on me that we had power once again.  We still have no
running water, but at least we have power, and still have a roof, and
our cars.  It could have been so much worse.

This should be my last post in regards to Hurricane Jeanne.  But remember to take a look at the pictures.

I tell ya, it was a crazy experience and much worse than the other hurrcanes we have gone thru this year.  All in all…

We survived.

Hurricane Ivan 9-07-2004

Won’t this madness stop?

3 Hurricanes in the past 4 weeks!  Ivan is about 5 days away, so it’s
still a little too early to tell if Florida will get smacked again, but
as it is going; it’s taking pretty much the same path as Hurricane
Charley did a few weeks ago.

I hope Ivan decides to stall out and not come over, Most of Florida is
pretty much saturated with water another hurricane could very was
Florida away and give Alabama and Georgia more ocean front property…

Thursday, September 9th, 2004.

7:41 AM

Well, all predictions for Ivan have him hitting Jamaca late Friday
night, then heading more north west, then hitting Cuba at about mid-day
Saturday, and turning almost due north.  That takes him directly across
the Melbourne area, right where I live at about 2 AM on Tuesday morning.
Two bits of good news here tho; (no i did not switch to Geico) by the
time Ivan reaches us here in Central Floriday it more than likely will
not be a Hurricane, in fact by the time he smacks Jamaca and then Cuba
he will have lost alot of strength.  The other bit of good news is that
it’s still pretty early and he very well could change course.

7:50 AM

Ivan has just been upgraded to a Category 5 Hurricane.  Very uncommon, and only the 19th Category 5 since 1950.

3:31 PM

I think I’m going into panic mode.  After seeing all the shortages of
food, water, gasoline, and whatnot this past week, I’m a bit frazzed
out.  I think this time we are going to stick it out here, despite the
concerns of our family in other parts of the country.  That’s probably
not the smartest thing for us to do, but I just cannot see trying to
evacuate the area again, especially after going thru all the traffic and
insanity of trying to find gasoline.  Who knows.  I have plenty of food
and ice and water now (I went out today and got as much as I could with
the impending arrival of Ivan); all I can do is hope that we don’t lose
power and have to sit and watch as the ice melts and the food spoils…

At any rate, for the next few days we will be eating like KINGS.

Friday, September 24th, 2004.

7:05 PM

Ivan totally missed us, which is one of the reasons I never bothered to
update this post.  He ended up going up into the Gulf of Mexico and made
landfall about 30 miles EAST of where we ran to when we left to get
away from Hurricane Francis.

However…  Now we are looking at Hurricane Jeanne…

Hurricane Frances 8-31-2004

I live in the Melbourne, FL. area.

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004.

I went to Wal-Mart today. The only water they had left was the expensive bottled kind, like Disani and Zephyr Hills. Instead I got some of the new Minute Maid Limeonade and some donut holes.
Went to Windixie and got 4 gallons of distilled water. Oh and a bag of chips, some canned tuna, and canned pineapple.
Looks like Francis is creating a slight panic here in Central Florida. Current predictions show it hitting us sometime Satuday.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2004.

2:15 PM Eastern.

Panic is on the verge of breaking out. Batteries are sold out everwhere, none of the hardware stores have any plywood left, there is a mandatory evacuation for Beachside Melbourne. There are talks that it will become a mandatory evacuation for all of Brevard County and Indian River County as well. According to the newest information, Frances is going to come directly across where I live.
The local mall here is going to be closed on Friday. Best Buy is talking of closing perhaps as early as tomorrow night. Schools are being closed right and left.
Winds are at 140 MPH; it’s moving NNW at 14 miles an hour. It a big powerful beast and is slow moving which makes her a really nasty gal.
Not too sure what we will do at this point.

11:50 PM Eastern.

Panic seems to be cutting deep now. We cannot decide to head south-west or to head north. 4 hours sw takes to towards Ft Myers, it will get hit by parts of the hurricane but no hurricane force winds. North takes us up to Memphis (BLECH!) and is also an 18 hour drive (double-BLECH!). Then come Monday we would have to turn around and fight all the traffic coming back (yep you guessed it, tripple-BLECH!).
Seems easy enough to decide what to do, but it is not.
More later.

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004.
9:15 AM Eastern.

After a decent nights sleep the mind tends to think a little more rationally. Hurricane Frances has taken a slight move to make landfall south of us. It is still going to make landfall in Brevard county, according to the prediction, but now instead of north Brevard county, it will fall on South Brevard county. This is not a good thing for me. That brings the eye DIRECTLY across the apartment in which I dwell.
Traffic is being shown on the news, Orlando is almost at a standstill with it’s roads being so packed with traffic. Fleeing north right now seems to be on hold. A possible run south may actually happen.
We have no way of being able to board up the windows, being in an apartment and all, so instead we are putting tape on them in an X. It will at least hold the glass together if the wind or debris shatters them.

More later.

12:19 PM Eastern.

The roads are bumper to bumper traffic on I-95 heading north towards St. Augustine. I think we have decided to head out to go to Destin, FL. It’s about 9 hours away from us, still a painful drive, but not as bad as it could be. We are thinking about heading out at about 1 AM but plans could change between now and then.

More later.

1:50 PM Eastern.

We have decided to go to Destin. It’s about 500 miles away, hopefully we can make it to a place that actually has gasoline between here and there. The problem is going to be coming back. Will they have gas when we need to come back?
Will anything even be here when we come back?

I’ll try to update when I can over the next few days, but if you never hear from me again, well…

Tuesday, September 07, 2004.

10:59 PM

We are back home. Everything around us is pretty much destroyed. Trees down everywhere, power lines down, gas station have no gas. Oddly enough we have power, and obviously cable. We made a mad dash up to Destin and stayed at the condu unit. There we watched as Frances made landfall; watching various channels show the winds move in, then then rain, then the damage. Frances decided to stay over the Melbourne area for close to 24 hours. Watching the news right now, the damage being shown looks more like the work of a tornado rather than a hurricane. 4 similar A-Frame houses in close proximity of each other, 2 are totally destroyed, the other 2 are still standing.

We made our way to Destin, it normally takes about 8 1/2 hours to drive there from the Melbourne area. It took us 16 hours. At one point it took us 2 hours just to go 30 miles. It was all due to heavy traffic, as everyone in our county (Brevard County) was pretty much given a madatory evacuation.
At about 9 PM the night we left we managed to find a place that had some gas and topped off our tank, then we decided to try to find a place to rest for the evening. We went to roughly 15 different Hotels, Inns, etc, looking for a room. ALL booked up with people on the run. We instead drove on. We left Brevard county at 3:00 PM and arrived in Destin at 7:00 AM. We then crashed asleep.
Once in Destin we pretty much had a vacation on our hands, anyone who has been there will know, it’s vacation central. The problem was, we were too worried about the hurricane to be able to enjoy any of Destin’s vacation luxuries.

Coming home was a bit faster, we left Destin at 10:00 AM and got back home at 8:30 PM, 10 1/2 hours. We heard reports that part of I-95 had a sinkhole, we never found that part, but traffic was still pretty bad nonetheless.

So, for now, everything seems to be okay for us. But Hurricane Ivan is on his way…

Thursday, September 9th, 2004.
7:52 AM

The aftermath. Hurricane Frances has cause a load of damage in most of her path. She spawned 92 documented tornados.

Hurricane Charlie 08-13-2004

Hurricane Charlie Digital Oil Print – $25.00

I went to work today, had to drive about 70 miles south of where I live to get to the job location in Jensen, Florida, and noticed that the roads were simply desolate. I am covering someone’s shift here. I turned off I95 and took Orange Ave to US1. Just before I turned south, i saw 2 peacocks walking down the sidewalk. Really amazing. All the while the radio was telling about this impending doom that was to make landfall at about 3 pm eastern. This impending doom is called Hurricane Charlie.

110 mile an hour winds. Category 3.

I walk into Best Buy at about 8 am, and finish up at about 11:30. I now have to make my way up to Vero Beach and hit the Best Buy there as well. I am covering someone’s shift here to. I leave here at about 2 pm.

As I am taking I95 north, back home, the radio tells me that this hurricane is about to become a Category 4. As I get home and turn on the television they announce it’s going directly to a Category 4. 10 miles short of being considered a category 5. This guy is bigger than Hurricane Andrew from a few years ago.

It’s projected path is slated to take the eye directly over Orlando. That’s about an hour north of me. However, each time they how the projected path, it seems to going more and more slightly south east of Orlando. That would take it right over where I live.

Right now it’s about 4:15 pm. Hurricane Charlie has just made landfall, Sanabell Island. It is estimated that this guy will overtake the Orlando area at about 9 or 10 pm this evening.

It’s strange outside right now. Moments of calm are broken up by moments of gusty winds. There is a squirrel on top of the roof of the house across from me. I hope he gets down soon before the winds send him out to sea. The sky is cloudy, but sometimes there are broken patches of blue and golden sunlight. Those patches swiftly pass by as the wind picks up again. Not too far from me is another house that has some pallets of shingles sitting loose on the roof. I’m willing to bet they won’t be there the next time daylight shines on that house.

The television now states that an estimated 15 billion dollars worth of damage will be caused by this hurricane.

That squirrel is not there any more. Either he got blown off the roof or he made it to safety.

Having just walked in from the out of doors, you would never know what is about to happen. The sky is not too dark right now.

It is now about 5:30 pm. The sky grows darker. The wind is picking up. Standing outside you can feel only the smallest of drops of rain. Still it is hard to comprehend what chaos is about to ensue.

I am shutting down my computer as soon as I finish with this post, and am moving my computer away from the window. Other tiems here have been placed in safe places. No loose silverware sitting out, nothing that can be picked up and tossed about is sitting out. What scares me at this point is that the winds in my area will be getting up to about 90 miles an hour and will be coming in from the south. I have a large sliding glass door that faces the south…

They are saying that once it reaches the Daytona Beach area it will have slowed down to a Category 1 Hurricane.

That is the last from me at this time. I need to shut down as some fairly threatening clouds approach. Lightning is illuminating them. I must admit that they are pretty from afar, but I do not wish to view them first hand.

Unfortunatly, I will.

Chronicles of Riddick – Review

This is an easy one to review. It’s action packed, fun, and highly entertaining. If you are expecting a rehash of Pitch Black, don’t. It has nothing at all to do with the storyline of the first, other than it is about Riddick, Imam, and Jack”ie”.

I liked this film for tieing in past characters and past events while taking the main character in a new direction. Yes it has Scientific flaws, but tell me, what sci-fi movie doesn’t?

Below is a synopsis of the movie. I’ve left out many details but below is the basic storyline, so if you don’t wanna know what happens, DON’T READ IT.

You have been warned…

It’s a sequal to the first (Pitch Black), and ties in via the “holy man”, Abu ‘Imam’ al-Walid – played by Keith David, and the young boy that was later to be discovered to be a girl, Jack/Jackie (at roughly age 13) – played by Rhiana Griffith, from the first movie, Pitch Black.

This one takes place 5 years later. A race called the Necromungers are planet hopping and destroying planets while taking the inhabitants and forcing them to either join the ranks of the Necros or die.

Meanwhile Riddick is in hiding on a frosty planet (sortav like Hoth) and is being tracked down by Mercs. Riddick gets the upper hand and takes off in the merc’s ship, figureing that more would come looking for him. He finds himself heading to a planet, Helios Prime, to go after the guy that hired the mercs to capture him. Yep you guessed it, it was Imam that wanted him. Riddick and Imam have a chat and it is explained to Riddick that the Necros are going to destroy everything, and “Save us Riddick, you are our only hope.”

Riddick is also told that Jack/Jackie went in search of him but was captured and sent to the prison planet of Crematoria, a planet that is 600 degrees in the sun side, -300 degrees on the dark side. At this same time the Necros begin to attack Helios Prime. Riddick is captured by the Necros, then escapes, then is captured by Mercs. While in chains on board the Merc’s ship he tricks them into taking him to Crematoria.

Once on Crematoria he finds Jack/Jackie, only to find out she has changed her name to Kyra, played by Alexa Davalos, and states that Jack/Jackie was dead because she was too weak. Riddick then manages to find a way topside and he and his party make a run for the ship, rushing to get there before the sun comes up and fries them all to bits.

Meanwhile it is discovered of a prophecy of sorts that riddick has the ability to kill the leader of the Necros. SO, the leader of the Necros sends out his #1 to track down and kill Riddick. #1 tracks Riddick to Crematoria, and in a battle Riddick is left wounded to die in the sun while Kyra is captured and taken to Helios Prime.

Riddick is saved by someone that is somewhat sympathetic to his cause and is able to return to Helios Prime as well. Once there we see that the Necro leader is about to destroy the planet, Riddick is able to infultrate his ship just before it takes off.

Riddick confronts the leader only to find that Kyra is standing beside him and appears to have been converted!

The movie ends in a very Conan the Barbarian type way; when you see it you will understand what I mean. I’m all ready for the 3rd Riddick movie.

*This page edited on 1/18/2016 to include a short tale of the mythology of this book and to include a couple of photos*

This Role-Playing Game and Resource Book is a Tri-Stat System RPG set in the madcap world of organized crime depicted in the cult movie Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai.

You can play the quirky anti-heroes of the movie, or use the character creation rules to design your own crooks, cops, and crackpots. Take on the challenge of role-playing a killer with a conscience, a mobster clinging to an obsolete code of honor, or the godfather of a struggling crime family beset by rival gangs and power-hungry lieutenants. Or match wits with the Mafia themselves as an FBI agent or an undercover cop. Hit men and undercover cops often work alone, so the Ghost Dog Role-Playing Game and Resource Book introduces guidelines for one-on-one role-playing as well as traditional group play.

The simple, fast-paced Tri-Stat game mechanics and extensive GM support (including two complete ready-to-play adventures) make Ghost Dog the perfect pick up game when the rest of the group can’t show up. The game is not just for fans of the movie. In addition to complete background and plot summaries for the Ghost Dog movie, there’s also a look at the honorable killers genre, information on samurai philosophy, and a huge amount of background on Mafia culture, organization and the day-to-day business of organized crime.
Useful with any game — not just Ghost Dog — this comprehensive Mafia source book will be invaluable to GMs of any RPG campaign which includes the modern-day mob.

This system uses 6 sided dice.

Now.. Let me fill you in on a little secret… as long as you own a copy of this book, good fortune will follow you. Once you have owned it and lost it; everything will fall apart.

Allow me to elaborate…

We have has several copies of this book in stock over the past couple of years and we discovered something.  We discovered Ghost Dog’s secret.  There is Yin and there is Yang.  There is good and there is evil.  This book contains that balance.

***Begin Edit***

Okay, so we were bored one evening and a small group of gamers allowed their imaginations to run wild.  We were walking up and down the isles here at the shop looking at the various odd role playing books we carried and we all agreed that Ghost Dog (the movie) was among the more strange things to create a role playing game about.  Soon thereafter we created the entire mythology about this book, and the good fortune that it would have to bring the shop.  I mean, hey, who in their right mind would even carry it to begin with?  All things happen for a reason, and the reason we had this book, Ghost Dog, was for it to provide unto us good fortune.

You can debate it’s effect of good fortune, or lack of, upon GameMasters, but I prefer to consider how much worse things could have been if we had ever gotten rid of this book.

Here at we have exactly 1 copy left, it is not for sale. Never again will we be without our copy of Ghost Dog. I recommend this highly sought after collector’s item, as it is no longer being made.

**** End Edit***

Perhaps if a second installment were to be made in movie form we might see further adventures of Ghost Dog.

Animal Crossing GameCube

Animal Crossing for the GameCube shows exactly what the GameCube can do. Get this; You can hook up your GameBoy Advanced without a game in it and download a game onto it with Animal Crossing!
Also included with Animal Crossing are many many classic Nintendo games; Clu Clu Land, Donky Kong, and many others (those also can be downloaded to you GameBoy Advanced, but when you turn it off the games turn off too. However you can still redownload them).

The game also requires a full memory cartridge to play; but get this; it comes with it’s own!

The gameplay seems to be set up for a 12 year old; but it has many antics that seem to have been designed for adult players.
The neatest thing about this game is that it continues to play and evolve even when you are not playing it. The GameCube itself has an internal clock; and the game is made in such a way that events happen at certain times and on certain days. They celebrate Holidays, birthdays, etc. It’s as close to playing an online role playing game as you can get without actually being online.
Oh! And you can also have up to 3 friends play in your same town. Each time you create a new game (town) the setup is different (but to be honest I don’t recommend ever creating a new town once you have already started unless you do it on a new memory card). You can also trade items between your friends and also visit their towns.

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this game!

George RIP

June 29th, 2002. George died today. She was a (roughly) 10 year old Striped Knee Tarantula.

George was a she? Actually, yeah she was. For many years I had a very bad phobia of spiders. Shortly after I graduated high-school I we casually walking through the mall and happened across the pet store. I went in and there this spider was looking at me. Okay, I could not tell if it was looking at me or not, but it was so fascinating. I brought it home and my uncle had come over. He started calling it George, and the name kindav stuck. The first time George molted, I cried my eyes out because I though he was dying (wait a sec, I thought you said George was a she? Hang in there, I’m getting to that…). When I woke up th enext morning there were two of them! Of course one was the empty shell. I noticed that George’s colors were bright and vibrant. About 4 years later (George had molted several times since then), I noticed a small white sac that he seemed to be protecting. At first I thought it was a bunch of cricket guts he had spun up into a web-ball. I removed the sac and when I opened it up, there were tiny little clear eggs inside. It turned out that George was female after all. But after 4 years of calling that spider George, it was hard to refer to her as anything else. I felt really bad for removing the sac from her aquarium.

Well, I sit here now thinking back over the years on how such a simple creature had given me so much joy. When I am working on my computer, I often times would glance over to see how many crickets she was dragging around in her mouth, or how much webbing she was putting down on her substrate. It may seem odd for someone to become so attached to a spider, but to me George was more than “just a spider”. Geroge was that friend you could talk to, and not have to worry about being critisized. I loved that spider.

Late last night I noticed that George was walking funny. I noticed that her front legs were bending under her while she tried to walk, she was walking on her knees. I went to every website I could to see what that could mean. Spiders are hydrolic. That is; they use the water in their systems to make their legs move. When they have no water in their system their legs can bend under their bodies and they are unable to walk. If left like that they can die. I immediatly coaxed her to her water dish (no sponge, sponges are very bad to have in a water dish), and she started drinking up the water.

Without knowing what else to do, I went to sleep. I woke up at 3 in the morning, then again at 5 in the morning to check on her. Both times I coaxed her to her water dish. And both times she started to drink. About 10 this morning I checked on her again, and saw that she was actually walking about with her legs in full movement. I again coaxed her to her water dish, and she drank for just a few moments then walked away from it. I placed a cricet in with her, but she ignored it.

About 4 this afternoon I saw that she was huddled in the corner of her acquarium, with her legs folded under her. The cricket was actully under her fangs, but it was very much alive. I gently pet her back legs and saw that she was moving just a little. I really did not know what else to do, but I was able to get her to move out of the corner and next to her water dish again. At 5:37 I looked in on her and she was back in the corner. Her legs were folded under her again. After being in my care for close to 9 years she simply crawled into the corner of her glass acquarium and silently passed away. Males of the same species can live up to 10 years. Females can live up to 30 years. George died at roughly 10 years of age (I was told “he” was about 1 year old when I bought “him”).

One word of advice to anyone who has a pet spider; Feed it at least 2 times a week and keep plenty of water in with it. Misting the substrate can be a good thing too depending on the species. If you decide to get a pet tarantula, just be sure to research the species first. They need alot of care and alot of love. They are not somthing that can simply sit on a shelf as a conversation piece.

Chris Thompson, the GameMasters GW Rep is going to start doing some neat tidbits for our website; be sure to check this page for constant updates!

Good Morning Kids,
Now let me give you the low down. I was talking to Brian one evening and he
tells me about this updated website. I check it out,.. it looks kewl, but I
decide it needs a little flare. So I decide to volunteer my services as a
regular column update. BOO YEA!!! So I was lamenting about what my first
column should be about. So I was sitting here, and talking to the guy I sit
next to Harry Heckle (he is famous in the gaming world, see if you can find
out from where!). I was ranting on and on about what to write about. Should
I talk about my experinces with working for Games Workshop? Should I talk
about what is my favorite armies and tactics? Should I talk about the only
thing that I really know about, and thats porn? No, no, no, I will talk
about, writing this letter! If you think about it, rather strange, Im
writing about a letter that I am writing, like putting two mirrors facing
each other and having and infinite void,… thingy!

Hey, did you know that Games Day is comming upon us. This is the FIRST GAMES
DAY that I will be attending. Im a little tingly to be honest with you. As
much as I love Warhammer, I also lived in Dallas, so it was a hell of a
commute. So I am hoping it is everything that I hope it is, but at the very
least I think I am going to lose my voice. I will be helping in the Rouge
Trader tourney, I will make sure to give you updates!
Well anyways, I think my ranting is done, for now!! I will wrote another day
though, so look this way again.
Christopher Thompson
“I’m not only a employee, I’m also a client”

Hi Kids,
How was your weekend? Mine was fine,… considering that GAMES DAY ROCKED!!!

What a rocking time, everyone needs to go to Games Day at least once in
there life, just to see the sea of gamers as the move around the conference
hall. I was taking tickets at the beginning to help because SO MANY PEOPLE
were there, we physically couldn’t hand out free miniatures fast enough! My
throat hurts, I’m tired, and if I could do it all over again, I would.
{pant, pant} OK, I think I am done. Now Games Day was great and all, but I
think there was one thing that was really fascinating to me at the event,
the token girlfriend. I love the concept of the token girlfriends, girls
that they so want to understand what their boyfriends do with their free
time, that they are willing to torture themselves, and go to this “weird convention” just to be with their man. And you can tell who they are from
like 100 yards, pouty lips, that bored, glazed look in there eyes, and the
desperate twitch in their face to see someone that they can have a report
with. I am this someone. Know I am fortunate enough to have a girlfriend who
enjoys what I do as a hobby. She paints, and even plays, and is in fact a
much better painter than me, but that look of total desperation in a token
girlfriend’s eyes always makes me melt. So you say hi, you talk with them,
and instantly you have a new friend. Its too great, and I think that’s what
made my day!
Anyways, I guess I get off topic, but I now have to go. Next time I write I
will talk about the new stuff that is coming out, and my opinions of Lord of
the Rings!
Take care and thanks for listening to my rant,
Christopher Thompson

K, Due to the fact that Chris (now our OLD GW Rep) is a wuss, his commentary will no longer grace the pages of our web site. We have a new enemy now. (For all you Star Wars fans!)
Now that Chris’ 15 minutes of fame are up, be sure to look for the commentary from our NEW GW Rep…

We never got a new GW Rep. Long story made short: GW screwed me on an order (I placed a $35k order with them and they did not send me what I actually ordered, instead I got a shit-tonne of lead that is out of print and no-one wants). Attempts to return this junk has gone over well.
