Complete Preview of Patch 7.2 Anduin Wrynn Quests

In World of Warcraft, we’ve watched Anduin Wrynn grow up through the years. Legion, starting with the comic Son of the Wolf, placed Anduin in the spotlight as an unexpected ruler, one who preferred books and study to combat.

While Anduin has been quietly mourning for the early patches of Legion, new quests in 7.2 continue his character development.

The Mystic Class

Unearthed Arcana

The mystic class, a master of psionics, has arrived in its entirety for you to try in your D&D games. Thanks to your playtest feedback on the class’s previous two versions, the class now goes to level 20, has six subclasses, and can choose from many new psionic disciplines and talents. Explore the material here—there’s a lot of it—and let us know what you think in the survey we release in the next installment of Unearthed Arcana.

The material here is presented for playtesting and to spark your imagination. These game mechanics are in draft form, usable in your campaign but not refined by design iterations or full game development. They are not officially part of the game. For these reasons, material in this column is not legal in D&D Adventurers League events.

Traps Survey

Now that you’ve had a chance to read and ponder the traps from a few weeks ago, we’re ready for you to give us your feedback about them in the following survey.

About the Current UA Series

We have a bunch of D&D content for you to playtest, discuss, and mull over. We have enough material, in fact, that we will be releasing Unearthed Arcana multiple times a month for the next few months. Look for the material on Mondays. We’ll take the things you love and refine them, and we’ll take the things you don’t like and either toss them out or rebuild them. Either way, your feedback is invaluable.

Because both of us—Mike Mearls and Jeremy Crawford—are working on Unearthed Arcana for the foreseeable future, the Sage Advice column will be on hold temporarily. In the meantime, Jeremy will continue to provide official rules answers on Twitter (@JeremyECrawford), as well as in the new Sage Advice segment in the Dragon Talk podcast.

Killing Firelord Nomi for 7.2 PTR Stress Testing

Players took their revenge on Nomi today as part of 7.2 PTR stress testing, a Blizzard event designed to test server strain by encouraging players to free-for-all PvP in Dalaran. Adjustments to Legendary Items in 7.2

Legendary improvements are on the way in the next 7.2 PTR build to address the power gap between throughput legendaries and those with more niche benefits. Blizzard plans to add throughput effects to legendaries that lacked those bonuses, or additional secondary stats. Additional changes include revamps to legendaries with poor design, and number tuning to make sure the throughput legendaries which can be used in every situation do not dominate every situation over the niche legendaries.

Tales from the Yawning Portal: Phylacteries

With the release of Tales from the Yawning Portal, players could very soon face the liches and demiliches within its adventures. In fact, Dead in Thay concerns the very Doomvault holding phylacteries for Szass Tam’s lich servants.

Although the exact secrets of achieving lichdom remain undisclosed (save to powerful wizards taking up the path), it is known how an arcane ritual traps the wizard’s soul within a phylactery—traditionally, an amulet in the shape of a small box. While Dead in Thay’s Doomvault stores and protects such amulets and like objects, not all liches choose such traditional phylacteries. And not all hiding places for them need be such well-defended vaults.

We’d like to hear your suggestions for strange, unusual or unexpected phylacteries. In 150 words or less, let us know what phylactery—its container and/or hiding place—you would propose. We’ll comb through the list, and present some of our favorites in a future issue of Dragon+.

Note: We’ll be collecting answers through March 26. For reference and inspiration, you might also look back at our Elemental Evil trinkets or Things in a Giant’s Bag articles.
