Dragon+ App Review (Dungeons and Dragons)

Wait.. how did this get by my radar??

For YEARS I read every issue of Dragon Magazine (and Dungeon Magazine) each month it (they) came out.  I was in grief when the mags were canned.

But this…  Holy Crap!  Dragon Magazine is back!  Sortav.

What is Dragon+ ?

It’s an app (you know those little program things that go on your phones and tablets? yeah, those), that lets you download digital issues (new ones, not the older issues from yesteryear – though that might be cool if they did convert them to pdf format to allow to be downloaded) of new issues of ‘Dragon Magazine‘.

The issues will be interactive as most digital magazines are now and the best part… Issue 1 is FREE

At the time of writing this article, I am not sure yet if future issues will also be free, but I have reached out to my contact with Wizards of the Coast and as soon as I hear I will update and let you guys know!

Okay, more details about Dragon+ :

Dragon+ is an official WoTC app for all things related to Dungeons & Dragons.

Within you will find game strategies, D&D storyline details, interviews, sweet history of past D&D lore, world info about the different realms found in D&D, comics, fan submissions, videos, and more!

It also links up to their Facebook page, which allows for up to the minute updates about what is going on in your favorite fantasy world (no, not THAT fantasy world… you pervert…).

Dragon+ is available for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

Want some screen shots?

These are from my very own Samsung Tablet (in other words the iTunes version may be a bit different, but I kindav doubt it):

This is the cover, you can swipe to get to the next page (duh, like it says it right there at the bottom), or you can tap the screen to open a selective thumbnail menu so you can pick the article you want to check out.  The first one I jumped to was…

Oddly enough, I was just talking to a friend yesterday about writing a massive article about the history of The Temple of Elemental Evil, so naturally this particular article jumped out at me…

Bottom line… If you play Dungeons & Dragons, or RPGs in general you will find this app chock full of good reads.  Grab it.  Enjoy it and Game On!
